Sugar Plum Fairy Cookies
Day 3 of 2021 Cookie Week is a fun one – Sugar Plum Fairy Cookies!
I think it goes without saying these cookies were inspired by The Nutcracker. I have always loved going to the it at the ballet each Christmas and the Sugar Plum Fairies were my favorite dancers.
I call Emerson my Sugar Plum, so I wanted to create a cookie that represented that!
Like a mentioned in my Day 2 of Cookie Week post, I will be sharing a few recipes that are easily thrown together using box mixes. This Sugar Plum Fairy Cookie uses packages sugar cookie mix and box Jell-O mix. In order to achieve the purple color, I mixed a red and blue Jell-O mix and it came out the PERFECT shade of purple.
The Jell-O adds a sweet, fruity flavor that Jared says truly embodies a sugar plum, so I guess mission accomplished!
I also rolled these cookies in a white sanding sugar to give it that Sugar Plum Fairy magic and sparkle. I also made a few in gold sanding sugar, but only photographed the white. The gold is just as magical! To really hit home the fairy theme, I photographed these with fairy lights in front of my camera. I couldn’t resist!
