Hashtags have been a great resource for helping my content to be seen by a wider audience. They have helped my blog get noticed by the brands that I work with and develop recipes for, they help grow my audience and they help get my recipes and other content seen by more people.
For my food and recipe posts on Instagram, I use both specific hashtags and broad hashtags. Here I’ve compiled a list of niche and general food, foodie and food blogger hashtags that I have been gathering and using for almost 5 years! I’ve categorized them for you to find the best set that matches your niche.
Instagram allows you to use up to 30 hashtags per post. I recommend using more specific hashtags (#pumpkincheesecake, #ATLbrunch, #thanksgivingsidedish) and sparsely use the more general hashtags that are heavily saturated with tags (#foodie, #brunch, #pasta). For example, if you are using the allotted 30 hashtags – around 20 should be specific and the remaining 10 (or fewer) can be higher traffic hashtags.
With algorithm changes, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to get your content seen. That is why using the right combination of relevant hashtags can be very important for not only your exposure, but for your engagement rates as well.
